    Five League Titles Claimed And Four School Records Broken At NO League Meet

    MIDDLEPORT -- Thursday night in Roy-Hart, the Barker Track teams crowned five more NO League Champions and broke four different school records. Taking All League first place honors were Eliza Dewart and Tyler Scheving, both in the 400, Jed Platt in the 400 hurdles, the girls 400 meter relay team of Alex Gancasz, Savanna Gancasz, Dewart and Bree Sutch, and the boys 3200 meter relay team of Jordan Bender, Michael Lantinen, Platt, and Scheving. Platt's win in the 400 hurdles set a new school record at 58.61 seconds. The boys 3200 meter relay also broke their own school record, shaving five seconds off their old time. John Austin, while finishing second in the shotput, broke Mr. Sanford's long standing school record with a toss of 46 feet 11 inches. The last record to fall was an awesome performance by Margie Zaepfel in the 1500. Zaepfel took almost 20 seconds off her personal best to finish third with a time of 5:13.78.

    Other top five finishes included a second place for Rugter Moeller in the 110 hurdles. Xavier Mann grabbed a third in the hurdles, a second place in the long jump, a second in the high jump, and a 5th in the 100. Marissa Estep took second in the 400 while Rachel Anderson took third in the long jump. Dewart took second in the 100 and Corina Giannone took fifth in the shotput. Sarah Scott took fourth in the 400 hurdles, Alex Gancasz took third in the 100 and the 400 hurdles, and Michael Lantinen finished fourth in the 1600. Jake Haight tied for second in the high jump as brother Josh, in his first time doing the pentathlon, took a strong second place finish.
