BARKER -- On Wednesday the Barker Tennis team defeated Wilson 5-0 to snap the Lakeman's 34 game winning streak and move into a tie for the N-O League title. The entire team played with great focus and determination.  Alex Duffy won in straight sets during his third singles match as did Mike Maines and Vinny Rinaldo at first doubles. Maines and Rinaldo remained unbeaten for the season and have not even dropped a single set.

Tommy Budde and Dereck Fuerch played a marathon three set match in second doubles while Kelsey Alvarez and Garret Fuerch played solidly in their third doubles match. Peter Benoit played phenomenal tennis at second singles, hitting huge serves and blasting passing shots by his opponent on his way to a two set win. At first singles Erick Bennes won in three sets against a previously undefeated and dangerous opponent showing why he is the top seed in the league.

"It was one of the best matches I have ever been involved in," said a jubilant Coach Mark Scofill after the streak ending victory for the Raiders.

The team will finish the season on Thursday at Albion.
