ALBION -- The JV Baseball team had a rough day at Albion on Saturday with a 22-1 loss in a complete seven inning game and a 23-0 loss in a shortened five inning game. The teams played a doulbeheader to make up a game from earlier in the season that was not played due to Barker having so many players on the eighth grade field trip to Washington, D.C.

In the first game Barker was able to get a run in the first inning but that would be all they would get for the day. Walks, errors and cold bats in both games all contributed to Barker's struggles as they dropped their third and fourth consecutive games. Over the two games Barker (12 innings at bat) struck out 19 times, committed 16 errors and put 20 runners on base due to walks and hit batters. Albion was up to bat for 11 innings as they didn't need their final at bat in game two.

Josh Bergman had two hits in game one for the Raiders. Spencer Moore, Jake Haight and Codi McKee had the other Barker hits. Moore's hit was a double. Bergman had the lone Barker hit in game two.

"Albion has been on top of our league for many years and without a doubt we have to improve a great deal to get to that level," said Coach Jeff Costello. "This group of young players that we have has the potential within a year or two to be much more competitive with the Purple Eagles. I look forward to working out the kinks to see what we can do against them next year and the following year. We've had our moments this season when we've looked pretty good and you can see the improvements the kids have made. Although today wasn't one of those days, we still have three games left to finish the season on a positive note. I'm glad we aren't finishing the year today. We are much better than what we showed today."

Barker will host Newfane on Tuesday at 4:30 to begin the final week of the season. The Raiders will play at Medina on Thursday at 3:15 and will close out the season at home on Friday to CSAT at 4:30.
