    Blackley Leads JV Softball Team To Victory Over Akron

    BARKER -- The Lady Raiders JV Softball team improved their record to 2-0 in Niagara-Orleans League play on the Friday before spring break. The Raiders came back numerous times from deficits of 11-3 and 14-10 to beat the Akron Tigers 17-16. The win wasn’t secured until the Raiders last at bat when Rheanne Levy drove in Mary Rounds for the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh. The comeback was led by the batting of Kelsey Blackley who went 3 for 4 with a grand slam, a solo home run and a triple. Blackley and Abby Heitzenrater each scored three runs. Caityln Mason, Emily Hollenbaugh, Destinee Hillman and Brooke Targus all scored two runs. The defense was led by solid infield play from Melissa Grosshans, Heitzenrater, Blackley and Levy. The Raiders next league game is April 25 when they travel to Newfane.
