    Boys Clinch At Least A Share Of Niagara Orleans League Championship

    BARKER -- Thursday night, in stunning fashion, the Barker Raiders Varsity Boys Track team came from behind to capture their first league victory in recent memory against the Albion Purple Eagles. In doing so, the boys have assured at least a share of the Niagara Orleans Track Championship. Playing the role of hero, Josh Haight assured the victory with a personal best triple jump of 38' 11", securing second place and the meet victory. Other athletes coming up big for the Raiders included Michael Lantinen in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, both personal bests, along with Tyler Scheving in the 400 and 800, Jed Platt in the 400 hurdles, and Haight in the long jump. Platt, Scheving, Lantinen and Jordan Bender combined to win the 3200 meter relay. Jarid Worthington, Tony Diez, Ryan Levy and Scheving took the 1600 meter relay. Other boys adding points toward the victory included Xavier Mann, Rutger Moeller, Sergio Cruz, Jake Greenwald, and John Austin.

    The Lady Raiders Varsity Track team fought a tough battle against the NO League Champion Purple Eagles, eventually dropping the meet 84-57. Bright spots in the meet included a new school record in the 3200 meter relay by Jamie Pryzybl, Sarah Scott, Allie Tillman and Margie Zaepfel. Also taking first place was Eliza Dewart in the 200 and 400, Alex Gancasz in the 400 hurdles, Margie Zaepfel in the 800 and Corina Giannone in the shot put and discus.

    The final meet of the year at home will be on May 23 against Medina.
