BARKER -- On Friday afternoon the JV Softball team lost a tough game to Albion. The Lady Raiders held a slim 7-6 lead after the fifth inning, but eventually lost the game 13-9. Abby Heitzenrater went 2 for 4 with two singles and Mary Rounds went 2 for 4 with a single and a double. Kelsey Blackley, Melissa Grosshans, Brooke Targus, Destinee Hillman and Brooke Bodine each had one hit.
Solid defensive play came from Heitzenrater, Rheanne Levy, Rounds, Erika Moeller, Blackley, Grosshans and Emily Hollenbaugh. Hillman went the distance on the mound with six strikeouts and forced 10 Albion batters into groundouts.
The JV softball team will continue league play on Monday when they travel to Roy-Hart.
