    Scheving Opens New Track With 800 Meter Record

    BARKER -- The first meet at home on the new track was exciting for the Barker Raiders. The boys won convincingly over the Newfane Panthers 83-58 on Thursday. Tyler Scheving led the way for the Raiders, breaking a 30 year-old school record in winning the 800 meter run in a time of 1:59.6. Scheving also won the 1600 meter run and was on the winning 1600 and 3200 meter relays. Robert Adams jumped his way into sectionals with a winning high jump of six feet, while also taking second places in both the 100 meter dash and the long jump. Joining Scheving and Adams with winning efforts were Rutger Moeller in the 110 hurdles, Zach Alt in the 400, Ryan Levy in the 200, Mike Lantinen in the 3200, Jed Platt in the Pole Vault, and John Austin in the Shot Put. David Poyfair and Matt Sweeney joined Alt and Scheving in winning the 1600 meter relay.
     
    The team will head to the Depew Wildcat Relays on Saturday.
