    Assemblyman Mike Norris presented Larcey Dwyer with her award personally. Assemblyman Mike Norris “Freedom Isn’t Free” Memorial Day Poster Contest Larcey Dwyer through her talent and thoughtful interpretation of the theme “Freedom Isn’t Free” was named the 2019 Memorial Day Poster Contest Winner. Larcey received an official New York State Citation, $100 Amazon gift card and her artwork will be displayed in the State Legislative Office Building and Assemblyman Norris’s district office

    The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and Canine Division Lieutenant James Hildreth and Undersheriff Michael Filicetti presented Serena Harris with the award. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and Canine Division Challenge Coin Design Contest The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and Canine Division invited high school students in grades 9 through 12 to create a challenge coin design to represent the canine division and capture the essence of canines working in law enforcement. Serena Harris was selected as the winning design. Serena received a challenge coin featuring her design and $50 Amazon gift card in recognition of her hard work and creativity.

    Villa Maria Photo Show

    The 25th Annual Villa Maria College High School Juried Photo Show showcases student photographic work. Ciara Gregoire received Honorable Mention for her photography design "Waterfall".

     

    Women’s Federation Art Show

    The Helen P. Kelley Memorial Art Show of the Western New York Federation of Women's Clubs is held annually for students in grades 9-12 in the eight far western counties of New York State. Barker Central High School was awarded 18 ribbons for student work.

    Babcock House Field Trip Dec. 20 2018

    The High School Portoflio class and EClub members were given a tour of the Somerset Historical Society's Babcock House Museum by society member Priscilla Whitford. EClub member Keira Wass said, "I believe the tour helped me better understand what life was like 100+ years ago." Senior Holly Wasnock said, "I liked being able to see inside the house and learn about it." "The tour was informative and interesting. My favorite room was the sitting room. It was quaint," stated senior Emma Etheridge.

     George Eastman House Field Trip Nov. 16 2018

     

    The High School Portfolio and Animation class went on a tour of the George Eastman House and Galleries. Senior Serena Harris said, “We made cyanotypes in class and the tour helped me better understand photography concepts.” “I liked all the rooms. I thought they were very pretty. My favorite room was the one with the elephant head,” said Chloe Goodlander. Senior Alexis Greene stated, “It was a very fun filled learning experience. George Eastman was a great man!”

  • Villa Maria Portfolio Review Day Oct. 18 2018

    The High School Portfolio and Animation class had an opportunity to participate in a portfolio review day at Villa Maria College and students were also provided with a tour of the campus. "I thought it was cool to see what schools had to offer for art. I also liked seeing Villa Maria and what the campus looked like," said junior Ciara Gregoire. "There are a lot more options and ways and things you can do with an art degree then I realized," said senior Kelsey Hoyle.
